NORMAN — Cindy Marshelle (Ketner) Gurley was born March 26, 1958, in Norman, to Harold and Leona (Plumlee) Ketner. She departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at her home in Arlington, Texas, at the age of 55.

Cindy graduated from Norman High School. She and Mark Gurley were united in marriage on Feb. 14, 1980, in Odessa, Texas. They had made their home in Arlington, Texas, since moving from Houston in 1991.

Cindy was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, falconry, camping with Mark, spending time outdoors and collecting rocks.

She was preceded in death by her father; grandparents George Lee and Dannie Mae Ketner and Bessie Ethel and William Patrick Plumlee; and stepfather, Melvin Henry Shelton.

Those who survive her include her husband, Mark Gurley of Arlington, Texas; mother, Leona Christine Ketner Shelton; her daughter, Kara Christine Gurley (the joy of Cindy’s life and pride of her grandmother, Leona Christine Ketner Shelton); brother, Kevin Louis Ketner (Linda Dianne); a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at McMahans Funeral chapel. Interment will be at Noble IOOF Cemetery.

At the family’s request, a viewing will not be hosted.
